Whatever starts with a goodwill ends up rewarded, even when there is neither intention nor a fleeting thought for return, recognition, or praise. When I published my series "O.R.B.I.T.S. Summer Retreat", a 60 plus page resource for my newsletter subscribers of leaders and teachers, the mere thought was the urge to draw the attention of educators and society to the possibility of silencing our professional calls for the summer, especially after the turbulent one academic year and a half.
My excitement to finally muster my courage and speak about concepts that are new to the education field, which may be misinterpreted, and my intent to know that my circle of educators can tremendously benefit from the knowledge presented, were paramount. Just like after every publication and the hard work behind it, I exert all efforts to share with whomever I find may benefit from such a resource. I thought of sharing it with two professional groups in my global network so that they can share it with educators they know. The first group is a coaching Mastermind group and the second is a that of business, growth, and entrepreneurship. From this latter I received a private message from the manager of the group, Dr. Hala AlMinyawi, expressing her immense interest in the material and nominating me for the global award ceremony of The International Sustainability and Growth Summit 2021 that would be held in Dubai at the beginning of September.
At the beginning I was hesitant because, as an individual with a mission, and even after 21 years in this field of education, both in teaching, leadership, and school quality monitoring and evaluation, I still consider myself at the start of my pursuit. It is only now that I am independent from a system entanglement, that I can speak loudly and confidently about my views of education and learning, which have long sailed away from the old paradigm port into the wideness of the ocean, the ocean of all-encompassing knowledge. I call for freedom of learning, truth behind learning, and the rights of children and educators to enjoy their lives while in the field, rather than be silenced, stifled under layers of old, rigid thinking, controlled by testing and categorizations.
Luckily, Dr. Hala convinced me that an award can bring more visibility to my approach, and I filled my application papers. The award, being issued by the GUIDE organization, UK-based organization for innovation, development, and education, is significant because it is linked to the The International Sustainability and Growth Summit, which is already my approach focus: sustainability and growth. The theme I presented was Conscious Learning for Sustainable Growth, choosing one form of learning – educators’ self-learning through "O.R.B.I.T.S. Summer Retreat".
"O.R.B.I.T.S. Summer Retreat" is a brief selection from my program ORBIT MODE, which is a support program to my other programs, and aligns with my approach for conscious learning and being. We can meet standards, yet sustain ourselves, our truth, so that we project nothing but the truth.
During a two-day summit hosted in Dubai by the GUIDE and under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Eng. Salim Bin Sultan AlQasimi, I was awarded, virtually, The Global Business Excellence in Education for my O.R.B.I.T.S. approach. This is an honor and joy for being a driver for education reform and positive change that we all aspire. I herein express my gratitude and appreciation for their kind recognition.
This is how organizations and individuals align for creating a better, more promising future for us and our planet. By bringing together thought leaders, policy makers, inspirational speakers and panelists form all around the world, the summit captured cutting-edge research and insights.
Sustainability is our only outlet.
